Kwahu Mpraeso Court revokes bail for 23 in Abetifi Chief kidnap case

The Kwahu Mpraeso Circuit Court in the Eastern Region has revoked the bail granted to 23 out of 27 suspects linked to the alleged kidnapping of the Kwahu Abetifi chief.

The suspects were remanded into police custody following a court session on Tuesday.

Initially arrested after violent clashes erupted in the area amid accusations of their involvement in the chief’s abduction, the suspects had been granted bail on November 27 after multiple failed applications.

However, during their latest appearance, the judge decided to rescind the bail for 23 of them, citing undisclosed reasons.

Security forces had previously intervened to restore order during the unrest.
