A labourer appeared in court for stealing three air-conditioning units. The units were valued at GH¢12,000.
Kwabena Frimpong worked as a gardener for a retired lecturer in Amrahia, Accra. He pleaded guilty to the charges.
Frimpong explained he was financially strained. His pregnant wife needed money, which led him to steal.
He sold the stolen units for GH¢1,000 each to a friend named Ebenezer. He did not know where Ebenezer was located.
Judge Sarah Nyarkoa Nkansa convicted Frimpong but remanded him into police custody. He will return to court on May 26, 2025, for sentencing.
Chief Inspector Eric Ransford Abban led the prosecution. He noted that Frimpong had worked for the complainant for five years.
Two months ago, while working in the compound, Frimpong stole the air-conditioning units and fled.
He remained hidden until his arrest on April 16, 2025, at a construction site near the Airport.
Frimpong admitted selling the items to Ebenezer in Dawhenya. However, he could not help police retrieve them since he did not know his friend's address.
