Dosso John, a 40-year-old mason, was sentenced by the Dansoman Circuit Court on January 26, 2025, to a fine of GH¢6,000 or eight years in prison for unlawful possession of narcotic drugs and carrying offensive weapons.
The charges stemmed from his actions during President John Dramani Mahama's inauguration at Independence Square on January 7, 2025.
He was fined 250 penalty units (GH¢3,000) for each charge, with a default sentence of five years for the drug charge and three years for possessing offensive weapons. Both sentences will run concurrently.
The theft charge for stealing a Tecno Camon 301 phone was dropped.
Dosso, caught with a kitchen knife, narcotics, and other suspicious items, pleaded guilty to the charges after being arrested at the scene.
