A 36-year-old unemployed man, Foster Nyarko, has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing a GH₵24,745 laptop from the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment.

Nyarko, who had visited the Ministry seeking a cleaning job, pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and theft before an Accra Circuit Court.

Presiding Judge Basilia Adjei-Tawiah sentenced him to a year for unlawful entry and two years for stealing, to run concurrently.

This was not Nyarko’s first offense, as he had previously been jailed for stealing a mobile phone at the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice.

He admitted to selling the stolen laptop in Takoradi after taking it from an office while the occupant was away.
