Man jailed for stealing laptop at Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment

A man has been sentenced to three years in prison for stealing a laptop from the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment in Accra. The accused, identified as Abubakar Mohammed, was found guilty of theft after he broke into the ministry’s premises. During the trial, evidence revealed that Mohammed had entered the office area and made off with a laptop valued at GHS 2,000.

The court's decision underscored the seriousness of theft within public institutions, emphasizing that such actions undermine trust and efficiency in government operations. The prosecution urged for a stringent penalty to deter similar crimes in the future.

In response, Mohammed expressed remorse for his actions but acknowledged his guilt, contributing to the court’s consideration of his sentence. This incident serves as a reminder of ongoing security challenges faced by government offices and highlights the importance of implementing robust protective measures to safeguard public property.
