Mason jailed three years for damaging Hisense vehicle

The Amasaman Circuit Court has sentenced 32-year-old mason Senyo Awuku to three years in prison with hard labour for causing irreparable damage to a Donfeng Ex-Box car valued at $35,900, belonging to Hisense Company Limited.

Awuku admitted to unlawful damage but denied stealing the vehicle, an HP laptop worth GH₵4,300, and GH₵4,000 cash from the complainant, Gad Ebenezer Afranie Kisi.

The court, presided over by Ms Enid Marful-Sau, adjourned his trial for theft and unlawful entry to March 13, 2025.

Awuku was arrested after crashing the stolen vehicle during a police chase.

Despite his plea for leniency, the court considered the extent of damage and ordered the release of the recovered vehicle and laptop.
