A violent clash at Awutu Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region has left one person dead.

The incident occurred around 10:45 PM when armed men, believed to be land guards, attacked the Bawjiase chief’s palace ahead of the new chief Nai Nana Kwaku Osardu (III)'s outdooring ceremony.

Family members were preparing for the event when the attack happened, resulting in the fatal shooting of a man in his 30s.

This violence comes despite a recent resolution of a 25-year-long chieftaincy dispute by the National House of Chiefs.

The Bawjiase District Police are working to maintain peace, and the deceased's body has been sent to the Police Hospital for examination.
