Painter remanded for allegedly stealing electrical cables at Bank of Ghana

A painter has been remanded in custody after being accused of stealing electrical cables from the Bank of Ghana. The suspect, named Eric Kwesi Amissah, allegedly took advantage of his access to the bank's premises while working on renovation projects. Authorities claim that Amissah removed several lengths of electrical cables valued at approximately GHS 12,000 and attempted to sell them for personal gain.

The incident came to light when security personnel at the bank noticed missing items and subsequently launched an investigation. Following this, Amissah was apprehended and brought before a court, where he faced charges related to theft. During the proceedings, the prosecution presented evidence suggesting that the painter had prior knowledge about the installation and maintenance of such equipment due to his profession.

As investigations continue, Amissah remains in custody while awaiting trial. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding security protocols within financial institutions and raises questions about oversight during maintenance operations. The matter underscores the need for stricter measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
