Parliament directs probe into market fire outbreaks - Ghanaian Times

Parliament has instructed its Committees on Defence and Interior, and Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs to investigate recent market fire outbreaks. They must report their findings in the first week of the House's second meeting.

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah, emphasized the urgency of this issue. He highlighted the need to address these recurring fires to prevent further losses.

Asiamah urged the committees to look into both immediate causes and long-term solutions.

This directive came after a statement from MP Kofi Obiri Yeboah. He expressed concerns about a devastating fire that affected the Adum Business District in Kumasi on March 21, 2025.
