Police arrest 3 for alleged weapons smuggling

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects. This was part of an intelligence-led operation in Savelugu, Northern Region.

The Police Public Affairs Directorate named the suspects. They are Gaba Abdallah Alhassan, Alhassan Abdallah, and Alhassan Abdul Kudus.

The arrests occurred on May 1, 2025. The suspects were taken from their hideouts.

Police recovered several weapons during the operation. These included an AK-47 rifle and a Sub Machine Gun. They also found a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE pistol and a single-barrel shotgun. Additionally, police seized two magazines, 15 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and 13 rounds of pistol ammunition. There were also 27 additional rounds and five BB cartridges.

The suspects are currently in police custody. They are assisting with ongoing investigations.

According to the statement, “They will be taken through the due process of the law to face justice.”
