Police arrest Cameroonian and 43 others for alleged fraud and human trafficking

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old Cameroonian. Her name is Bella Merie. She is accused of running an internet fraud scheme and human trafficking.

Bella allegedly defrauded 43 victims, including 32 men and 11 women. She used a method called Q-NET to carry out the fraud.

Preliminary investigations show she took a total of 4.5 million CFA Francs from the victims. She promised them job opportunities that never materialized.

Bella was arrested along with her victims, who are also Cameroonians. They are aged between 22 and 30 years old.

The arrests happened at a residence in Kenyasi Abrem on Monday, April 7.

In a statement, the police emphasized their commitment to fighting fraud. They aim to protect both citizens and foreign nationals in Ghana.

The suspects have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service. This will allow for necessary immigration processes and repatriation to Cameroon.
