Police arrest armed suspect linked to Adoagyiri disturbances

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect for illegal firearms possession.

The suspect is Abdul Rauf Salami, who lives in Adoagyiri Zongo. He was arrested on Thursday night, May 23, 2025, around 9:30 PM.

A statement from ASP Foster Owusu was released on Saturday, May 24. It said the arrest followed a police operation at entry and exit points in Adoagyiri. This operation aimed to address recent violent disturbances in the area.

Police recovered two pump-action guns and 64 rounds of AA ammunition. They also found a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest with the suspect.

Salami is currently in custody and assisting with investigations. Authorities plan to arraign him in court soon.

The police assured the public of their commitment to safety in Adoagyiri Township. They urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
