Police arrest suspect in Abuakwa murder case 

The Ashanti Regional Police have arrested a 34-year-old taxi driver. He is suspected of murdering a young woman in Abuakwa, Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.

Robert Kwabena Boamah was captured on April 23, 2025. Police found him hiding in Namong, near Offinso, after receiving a tip-off.

DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, issued a statement. After his arrest, Boamah appeared very weak.

During questioning, he confessed to drinking weedicide. He did this in an attempt to take his own life after killing Dorothy Owusu Annor.

On April 21, 2025, police received a distress call from Tanoso Electoral area. They were informed about a young woman's body found near Mighty Jesus Educational Complex.

Police officers arrived at the scene and identified the deceased as Dorothy Owusu Annor. She was also known as Maa Abena and was 23 years old.

An examination revealed multiple stab wounds on her body. Investigators also found an abandoned Opel Astra taxi at the scene.

The vehicle had registration number AS8575-Y and its ignition key was present. Further investigation showed that the car belonged to Robert Kwabena Boamah.

He was tracked down and arrested shortly after. During interrogation, he admitted to committing the crime.

After his arrest, he seemed weak and confessed again about drinking weedicide. He was taken to Abuakwa Polyclinic for treatment and later discharged.

Efforts are underway to bring him before the court for justice. The Ashanti Regional Police are committed to ensuring safety for all residents. They will continue pursuing justice for victims of violent crime.
