Police arrest suspect in gruesome murder of University of Education lecturer in Winneba

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in a murder case. The victim was a Senior Lecturer from the University of Education, Winneba.

The suspect, Joshua Karry Arthur, was arrested at the lecturer’s home. This occurred on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Essuokyir.

His colleagues reported him missing after they could not reach him. Police responded to their report and visited his residence. There, they found and arrested the suspect.

During the investigation, officers made a chilling discovery. They noticed blood stains inside the house. These led them to a nearby sand heap about 23 meters away.

When they removed the sand, they found a buried body. This body is believed to be that of the missing lecturer. It has been taken to the morgue for preservation and an autopsy.

Police recovered several items from the suspect's possession. These include two Samsung phones, a laptop, and a 50-inch television. They also found a car key for a Toyota Fortuner; all items belong to the deceased.

The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. He is expected to appear in court soon.

The police have stated that investigations are ongoing. They assure the public that justice will be served.
