The Ghana Police Service has arrested a prime suspect linked to the 2019 assassination of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, following a breakthrough in investigations with U.S. intelligence assistance.
The suspect, Daniel Owusu Koranteng, also known as Akwasi Amakye, was a close associate of the deceased and is accused of leaking Sualeās photographs to a prominent politician before his murder.
He reportedly fled Ghana when police began closing in but secretly returned last week, leading to his arrest at a hair salon in Amasaman-Adease.
Sources say the FBI extracted crucial evidence, including phone records between Amakye and Suale before his death.
However, concerns have emerged over attempts by a high-ranking police official to secure his release on bail, creating tension within the police force.
