A Sege Magistrate Court has sentenced Nene Hakpo Adibuertey Puplampu IV, chief of the Puplampu family, and four others to three months in jail for assaulting individuals making a communal labor announcement in Hwakpo, Ada West.
The attack, linked to a chieftaincy dispute, saw the victims slapped and beaten with sticks.
A sixth accused, Mary Addi, was fined for throwing urine on the complainants.
The court found the convicts guilty of conspiracy and assault, stressing their lack of remorse. Three others were acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
The ruling reinforces the law’s stance against violence amid community disputes.
