A five-member panel of the Supreme Court dismissed an application yesterday. The application sought to stop President John Dramani Mahama from removing former Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. It also aimed to prevent the removal of heads of other security agencies.
Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie led the panel. He stated that President Mahama's actions were not meant to overreach the Supreme Court.
The court explained that the pending action does not prevent the President from performing his duties. Therefore, they concluded that the President's actions were not intended to overreach.
Before the ruling, Mr. Kofi Bentil represented the applicants. He argued that the President's actions were indeed meant to overreach.
