Suspect remanded following alleged machete assault on carpenter

A 52-year-old steel bender has been accused of attacking a carpenter. He allegedly inflicted multiple machete wounds over a girlfriend dispute. The man, Kojo Senagbe, has been remanded into police custody.

Senagbe pleaded not guilty to causing unlawful harm. The court, led by Mr. Kwabena Obiri Yeboah, adjourned the case. It will resume on June 6, 2025, for prosecution disclosures before the trial.

Chief Inspector Belinda Asante is leading the prosecution. She identified the complainant as Oliver Zinto. Both Zinto and Senagbe live in Community 14 Annexe, Lashibi.

On May 10, 2025, around 10:30 PM, Zinto was walking home. Senagbe confronted him and ordered him to stop. Zinto suspected ill intent and continued walking.

The prosecution stated that Senagbe then attacked Zinto with a machete. He slashed Zinto's scalp, left ear, arm, and back. Feeling his life was in danger, Zinto fought back and seized the machete.

Zinto was bleeding profusely but managed to get help. He received first aid while Senagbe fled the scene. A report was made at Klagon Police Station for further action.

Zinto also received a medical form for treatment which he returned to police. On May 12, 2025, police arrested Senagbe. In his caution statement before an independent witness, he admitted to the attack.

Senagbe claimed he attacked Zinto because he had “taken over” his girlfriend. Investigators retrieved the machete during their inquiries.
