A suspect, Nuhu Mumuni, has been arrested in the Savannah Region for his involvement in the robbery and alleged murder of mobile money vendor Benjamin Apuri and another victim at Pwalugu in the Upper East Region.
The arrest occurred on April 8, 2025, in Mankarigu, a suburb of the North Gonja district, following intelligence-led operations by the Savannah Regional Police.
COP Samuel Winful, the Regional Police Commander, confirmed that Mumuni was on the Upper East Region's wanted list.
Apuri was shot dead on March 3, 2025, during the robbery, with an undisclosed sum of money taken.
The police have announced plans to transfer the suspect to the Upper East Region for trial. COP Winful also urged mobile money vendors to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police to ensure their safety.
