The individuals accused of killing cattle belonging to the Fulani community in Sabonjida, Nanumba North Municipality, have been brought before the court.
They have been charged with possession of firearms without lawful excuse under Section 11 of the Arms and Ammunition Act, 1972 (NRCD 9) and cruelty to animals under Section 303 (1a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Their arrest follows violent clashes on Wednesday, March 19, during which some residents of Sabonjida and Afayili attacked Fulani settlements, killing cattle and setting huts ablaze.
The unrest reportedly stemmed from allegations of armed robbery, which resulted in the death of one person.
