Tamale Circuit Court sentences 5 for drug-related offences

Five people have been sentenced by the Tamale Circuit Court. They were convicted for drug-related offences. These include unauthorized sale, possession, and distribution of narcotic drugs.

The convicts are Iddrisu Fidaws, Alhassan Wumpini, Bassit Iddrisu, Alhassan Adam, and Haruna Mohammed Sadais. They were arrested on March 5, 2025. Police found them during a patrol in Tamale. The individuals had tramadol, rohypnol, and cannabis in their possession.

The court reviewed the evidence and the accused's admissions. It then handed down varying sentences to each convict.

Iddrisu Fidaws was convicted on four counts. He was fined GH₵90,000 on two counts or faces 15 years in prison if unpaid. He received a fine of GH₵7,200 on the other two counts or 10 years imprisonment if unpaid.

Alhassan Wumpini was also convicted on four counts. He was fined GH₵90,000 on two counts or faces 10 years in prison if unpaid. On the other two counts, he was fined GH₵10,800 each or 10 years imprisonment if unpaid.

Bassit Iddrisu faced two counts and was fined GH₵19,200 for each count or six years imprisonment if unpaid.

Alhassan Adam received three convictions. He was fined GH₵90,000 for one count or faces 15 years in prison if unpaid. For another count, he was fined GH₵10,800 or faces 10 years imprisonment if unpaid. The third count has an unspecified fine.

Haruna Mohammed Sadais faced two counts as well. He was fined GH₵99,996 for one count or faces 17 years in prison if unpaid. For the second count, he received a fine of GH₵84,000 or faces 10 years imprisonment if unpaid.

Since they could not pay their fines, all convicts are now in prison custody.
