A 47-year-old teacher, Ernestina Koranteng, has been arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing $11,000 and defrauding a Ghanaian resident in the U.S. of $33,400.
Koranteng reportedly took the money to build a house and set up a pharmacy but failed to fulfill her promises. She instead showed the complainant a rented property at Dansoman, falsely claiming it was purchased for her.
Additionally, she sold two cars entrusted to her, claiming the proceeds were used for construction.
The court, presided over by Isaac Addo, granted her GH¢1 million bail with three sureties.
Prosecutors say investigations revealed no house was ever built.
The case continues on April 9, 2025.
