A trader has appeared in an Accra Circuit Court. He is accused of injuring a carpenter's left eye with a walking stick.
Adam Zakaria, 42, paid GH¢200 to carpenter Eric Djan. He hired Djan to fix his leaking roof. However, Djan allegedly did not complete the work.
Zakaria faces charges of causing harm but pleaded not guilty.
Judge Isaac Addo granted him bail set at GH¢50,000. He must provide two sureties and follow disclosure rules.
Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer reported that Djan lives in Danquah Circle, Osu. He received payment from Zakaria in October 2024 but failed to fix the leak.
On January 20, 2025, Zakaria confronted Djan at Danquah Roundabout about the delay. Djan claimed he was unwell and could not finish the job.
This led to a quarrel between them. During the argument, Zakaria allegedly thrust his walking stick into Djan's left eye.
Djan bled profusely and was taken to the Police Hospital. Doctors found his vision blurred and recommended surgery.
Zakaria was arrested on May 8, 2025.
