Trial date set for accused escape conspirators

The trial of Pius Anundoabil Ayoma, 23, and Godwin Klu, 26, who allegedly conspired to escape from custody, is set to begin on January 27, 2025, at the Accra Circuit Court.

The prosecution, led by DSP Maxwell Oppong, has filed all necessary processes and will present three witnesses against the accused.

Pius, an electrician, pleaded guilty to some charges during his initial court appearance but denied others.

Klu, a tiler, pleaded not guilty to all charges, including conspiracy to escape, causing unlawful damage, and abetment.

The incident occurred on March 2, 2023, at the Manet Police Station, where both accused allegedly orchestrated an escape plan.

Pius was awaiting trial for robbery, while Klu was serving a four-year sentence for theft.
