The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects believed to be preparing for a robbery near Asankragua in the Western Region.
The suspects, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, 28, and Karim Yakubu, 42, were spotted hiding in a bush along a stretch of road and attempted to flee upon noticing a police patrol team. Their escape led officers to an abandoned mining site, where the duo jumped into a muddy pit in a desperate bid to evade arrest.
Police, however, managed to apprehend the suspects at the scene. A search uncovered a shotgun, three AAA cartridges, and a Nokia keypad mobile phone in their possession.
The suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on crime and ensuring public safety across the region.
