Volta Police Command arrests 26 suspects for drug-related offences  

The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested 26 suspects for drug-related offences.

This arrest took place on Saturday, May 24. It was part of an intelligence-led operation at the Aflao border in the Volta Region.

The arrests occurred at various locations. This effort aims to combat drug peddling and related crimes in the area.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felix Danku shared details in a release. He is the Public Relations Officer for the Volta Region.

The police retrieved several exhibits from the suspects. These included 20 wraps of suspected Indian hemp and 12 sachets of Tramadol tablets.

Other items found were dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp. They were contained in a rubber bucket. The police also seized cash amounts totaling GH¢30,558.00 and 17,500 CFA.

Additionally, they found six drug-laced toffees and eight creams suspected to contain narcotics. There were also 26 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp hidden in a fertilizer sack.

DSP Danku confirmed that the suspects are currently in police custody. They will be arraigned before the court soon to face justice.
