A legal dispute has erupted in the Volta Region as businessman and farmer Ladi Kwaku Avorgah sues Sadalco and Brothers Business Ventures, GCB Bank’s Abor Branch, and its manager over GHC120,000 in unpaid lotto winnings.

Avorgah claims he won a District Weekly Lotto draw on September 25, 2023, but despite repeated demands, the first defendant has failed to settle the full GHC1.73 million owed to winners.

He alleges fraud after a GHC149,000 post-dated cheque bounced, accusing the bank of misleading him with false assurances.

The lawsuit, before the High Court in Denu, seeks full payment, damages, and punitive costs.

The case could influence regulations on gaming payouts and banking accountability as the defendants remain silent on the allegations.
