A woman and her two children have been shot dead in Bawku after armed men, allegedly dressed in military uniforms, attacked their home in Tensungo, near a military camp.

While the motive remains unclear, the incident is believed to be linked to the ongoing chieftaincy conflict, bringing the death toll since October 2024 to 45.

The attack follows a similar case on January 25, when a 13-year-old boy was killed in the same area.

The murders have heightened tensions after two weeks of relative calm. Tensungo Assemblymember Mohammed Saani confirmed the killings, stating that the bodies have been sent to the morgue.

He added that the family suspects the perpetrators may return to carry out further attacks.
