A 45-year-old woman, Faustina Foli, was denied bail by the presiding judge of Circuit Court 2 in Accra after being charged with defrauding by false pretenses.

Foli, an unemployed resident of Ablekuma, is accused of falsely promising to secure U.S. visas for a complainant’s family in exchange for GH¢265,000.

The case has been adjourned to December 10, 2024.

Foli was denied bail due to a previous incident where she allegedly jumped bail in another case.

Police investigations revealed Foli received the money but failed to deliver the visas or return the passports, leading to her arrest.

The police are now verifying her claims and investigating the involvement of a man named Charles Agbele, purportedly working at the Canadian High Commission.
