The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, defended Rev John Ntim Fordjour.
Rev Fordjour is the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee. He is also the MP for Assin South.
Joy News reported that National Investigations Bureau (NIB) operatives visited his home. They were there to execute an arrest warrant.
Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), confirmed this on Facebook. He made the post on Wednesday, April 9.
On Thursday, April 10, Afenyo-Markin spoke to the press. He was joined by other party members who supported Rev Fordjour at his home.
Afenyo-Markin emphasized that Ntim Fordjour has full support from the Minority caucus. “Reverend is not a loner,” he stated. “He will never walk alone.”
He explained that Rev Fordjour leads the Defence and Interior Committee for their caucus. He represents their views and speaks for them.
The Minority Leader warned against any attempts to intimidate or undermine Rev Fordjour. “Nobody should try to single him out,” he cautioned.
Afenyo-Markin expressed confidence in Rev Fordjour's faith and support from colleagues. “He walks through this valley of death but fears no evil,” he said.
He referred to the "mighty 88" members of their caucus standing behind him.
In closing, Afenyo-Markin addressed government officials directly. He urged them to stop any further intimidation efforts: “Enough is enough.”
