5 expensive products that are totally overhyped

Sometimes we spend a lot of money on experiences. We often ask ourselves, “Was that it?”

In today’s world, marketing is everywhere. Some high-end products don’t live up to their hype or price. Here are five examples.

1. Designer Water
Luxury water brands like Bling H2O charge a lot for water. Unless it comes with Beyoncé’s vocals, regular bottled or tap water works fine.

2. Apple’s Polishing Cloth
This is just a piece of cloth. Yet, people queued online to buy it from Apple. It doesn’t do anything your old sunglasses cloth can’t do. But it does come in sleek packaging!

3. Gold-Covered Foods
Gold-dusted doughnuts and gold-leaf steaks look fancy on Instagram. However, they taste just like regular versions without the glitter. It’s all for show—and your wallet pays the price.

4. Designer Logo T-Shirts
Paying hundreds for a plain tee with a logo is common. Some cost more than rent in Accra but still shrink in the wash. A nice local brand or thrift find can get you compliments and save money.

5. Smart Fridges
Do you need a fridge that tells you what’s inside? Or one that suggests recipes while you binge-watch Netflix? Smart fridges are cool but often overpriced with too many buttons for most people.
