From January 1, 2025, citizens of nine African countries—Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Chad—can apply for Thailand's e-visa online. This new system eliminates physical applications and streamlines visa processing. Travelers must prove their presence in these countries and submit travel confirmations, including return flight details. Processing takes around five working days, and applications should be submitted 4-6 weeks before travel, but no more than three months in advance. Thailand offers various visa types, including Tourist, Transit, and Non-Immigrant Visas. This initiative aligns with Thailand's "Look West Policy" to strengthen ties with Africa, reflected in growing trade with nations like Kenya and Sudan, and scholarships for Thai-Muslim students in Sudan.
