Kwaku Sintim Misa (KSM) is a renowned Ghanaian comedian and filmmaker. He recently shared that his biggest breakthrough was acting in the US series, Law & Order.
KSM's journey began in childhood. He has always been drawn to acting. Speaking on Joy Learning TV, he reflected on his early passion.
"I wanted to act for as long as I can remember," he said. His eldest brother studied in the UK, and KSM wrote to him. He asked for help finding an acting school there.
From a young age, storytelling came naturally to him. "I always had a story whenever I returned home," he recalled. His family often called him a 'liar.' This playful teasing marked the start of his writing journey.
Driven by his passion, KSM pursued Theatre Arts at NAFTI in Ghana. "After high school, I spent one year at NAFTI before going to the US," he explained. He was among the first students at NAFTI.
In the United States, KSM honed his craft and gained experience. However, his first film role happened during a visit back to Ghana. A friend from NAFTI featured him in a film during summer break.
Despite starting in Ghana, KSM's major breakthrough came with Law & Order in the US. "That series was highly rated and appearing on it was a big deal," he stated.
He also highlighted other milestones in his career. KSM became the first African to perform an original one-man show on Broadway with Thoughts of a Confused Black Man.
In addition to success abroad, KSM has impacted Ghana's entertainment scene significantly. He created memorable productions like Saga of the Returnee and Afia Siriboe.
KSM advises young people to recognize their natural talents. "Anything you excel at effortlessly is likely your talent," he emphasized.
He noted that talent isn't limited to creative arts alone. "People often think talent only refers to singing or dancing," he said. "You can be talented in math or science too."
"Talent is broad and everyone has one," KSM concluded.
