Akufo-Addo Introduces Afenyo Markin to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

On June 3, 2025, Nana Akufo-Addo welcomed Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin. This took place during a visit by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to his residence in Nima.

Akufo-Addo referred to Afenyo-Markin as the Mighty Minority leader. The former president introduced him to the Asantehene with a smile. Both men laughed as Afenyo-Markin approached to greet the king.

Afenyo-Markin is the Minority leader of Ghana's ninth parliament. He was among several New Patriotic Party members present for the visit.

In a video shared online, Akufo-Addo sat beside Otumfuo while making the introduction. The audience reacted with laughter as Afenyo-Markin greeted the Asantehene.

The MP shook Otumfuo's hand firmly and bowed respectfully. This gesture showed his loyalty and humility towards the king.

Afenyo-Markin's meeting with Otumfuo and Akufo-Addo sparked discussions about his leadership role in parliament. Recently, he led protests against Chairman Wontumi's detention by EOCO.

During this protest, he expressed frustration with the NDC government. In an unusual move, he was seen meditating outside EOCO in an ancient Indian pose.
