Black Sherif earns 2025 BET awards nomination for Best International Act

Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has gained international recognition again. He received a nomination for the 2025 BET Awards in the Best International Act category.

The “Second Sermon” hitmaker is the only Ghanaian nominated this year. He joins a competitive list of global talents. This includes Ayra Starr and Rema from Nigeria, Tyla and Uncle Waffles from South Africa and Swaziland, Gabrielly and MC Luanna from Brazil, Joé Dwèt Filé and SDM from France, and Basky and Ezra Collective from the UK.

Black Sherif’s nomination comes after his 2023 win at the BET Hip Hop Awards. He won Best International Flow, becoming the second Ghanaian to achieve this. Sarkodie was the first to win in 2019.

His emotionally-charged lyrics blend highlife, drill, and trap music. This unique style has helped him stand out on the global music scene.

The BET Awards started in 2001 by Black Entertainment Television. The event celebrates Black excellence in music, film, sports, and philanthropy. Over time, it has highlighted African talent and its influence on global entertainment.

Black Sherif’s latest nomination solidifies his status as a promising young voice in Africa. He continues to carry the Ghanaian flag high on the international stage.
