COCOBOD maintains cocoa price for 2025/2026 despite Côte d’Ivoire increment

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced that cocoa prices will stay the same for the 2025/2026 season.

This decision comes despite regional price changes and market volatility.

In a letter dated April 8, COCOBOD informed the Licensed Cocoa Buyers’ Association of Ghana (LICOBAG). They based their decision on a thorough evaluation of the cocoa industry's financial outlook.

Dr. James Kofi Kutoati, Acting Deputy Chief Executive, Operations, stated, “This decision comes after careful consideration.”

Currently, the producer price for cocoa in Ghana is GH₵3,100 per 64kg bag. This equals GH₵49,600 per tonne. It reflects a slight increase of 0.03% from last September's price for the 2024/2025 crop season.

COCOBOD emphasized that this move aims to ensure price stability. It also seeks to promote long-term sustainability in the cocoa value chain. The goal is to align with global market conditions and support cocoa farmers.

While Côte d’Ivoire recently raised its producer prices, Ghana has chosen to keep its rates unchanged for now.

However, COCOBOD mentioned that they may review producer prices and fees during the upcoming season.
