Stonebwoy's Concerns About Ghana's Music Industry
Dancehall musician Stonebwoy has criticized how Ghanaians treat showbiz figures.
In an Instagram video on May 29, 2025, he expressed his disapproval. He believes that celebrating mediocrity harms the music industry in Ghana.
Stonebwoy called for a change in mindset among Ghanaians. He said, “We need a mental shift to progress.” He emphasized that celebrating mediocrity is detrimental to growth.
He compared Ghana’s situation to Nigeria’s supportive music culture. Stonebwoy noted that Nigerian artists receive encouragement and recognition.
“There is a need to speak positively about our achievements,” he stated. He highlighted that Nigerians lay groundwork before winning awards like the Grammy.
He mentioned narratives in Ghana often pull artists down instead of lifting them up. “We have a P.H.D. syndrome—Pull Him Down,” he said.
Stonebwoy suggested changing this mentality to “Pull Him There” for better support.
