Celestine Donkor and Husband Sponsor Education for DJ Awana's Children

Gospel musician Celestine Donkor and her husband, Kofi Donkor, have pledged to support DJ Awana's children. They made this announcement during a one-week observance in Tema on April 27, 2025.

DJ Awana, whose real name was Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey, passed away on April 6, 2025. He died at the 37 Military Hospital after a short illness. His death saddened many in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.

The couple's offer comes three weeks after DJ Awana's passing. They aim to finance the education of his two children. One child is in Junior High School and the other is in Senior High School.

During the observance, family and friends gathered at Aggrey Road School Park in Tema Community 2. Many high-profile personalities from the creative industry attended to pay their respects.

Gospel musicians Mary Ghansah and Celestine Donkor performed heartfelt songs that moved attendees. After her performance, Celestine Donkor donated GH₵500 to DJ Awana’s family.

This donation honors DJ Awana, who supported Celestine’s ministry over the years. The final funeral rites for DJ Awana are scheduled for September 27, 2025.
