Chicago’s hip-hop community is mourning the loss of underground rap veteran Parkay ButtaBoy, who was fatally shot on March 24, 2025.
The 42-year-old artist was ambushed while sitting in his car near South Sangamon Street in Englewood. An unidentified gunman approached and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Emergency responders rushed Parkay to the University of Chicago Hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A longtime member of Bump J’s Goon Squad, Parkay was known for his raw storytelling and street anthems, earning respect throughout Chicago’s rap scene.
Following his death, tributes have poured in from artists and fans, with many demanding justice. Police have yet to make any arrests but are urging anyone with information to come forward.
