US singer Chris Brown says he has gone "from the cage to the stage." He made this statement after being released on bail for his world tour.
The 36-year-old was granted bail by Judge Tony Baumgartner at Southwark Crown Court. He must pay a £5 million security fee to the court. Brown did not appear in person during the hearing.
He had been in custody after an initial hearing at Manchester Magistrates' Court. Now, he is free until his next court appearance in London on June 20. He faces a charge of grievous bodily harm from an alleged assault at Tape nightclub in London in 2023.
On Wednesday night, he posted on Instagram: "FROM THE CAGE TO THE STAGE!!!" He also mentioned his upcoming international tour called "BREEZYBOWL."
Brown's bail conditions allow him to travel for his tour dates in the UK this June and July. However, he cannot use his passport for any other purposes. The judge ordered him to live at a specific address and submit it to the court.
He is not allowed to visit Tape or contact the alleged victim. Additionally, he cannot apply for any international travel documents.
Brown was arrested early Thursday at a hotel in Manchester. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police took him into custody after he flew there by private jet for his tour.
The next day, he appeared before magistrates and listened closely as details of the case were presented. The prosecutor stated that music producer Abraham Diaw faced an "unprovoked attack" with a weapon in a crowded nightclub.
The prosecution claims Diaw was struck multiple times with a bottle and followed to another area where he was punched and kicked repeatedly.
Another US rapper, known as HoodyBaby, has also been charged with GBH related to this incident. Omololu Akinlolu, 38, will appear at Southwark Crown Court on June 20 as well.
A case management hearing for both men is scheduled for October 24.
