Chris Brown reportedly arrested

R&B superstar Chris Brown has been arrested in Manchester. This is related to a violent incident from over a year ago.

UK authorities say the 36-year-old singer was taken into custody at The Lowry Hotel. His arrest occurred on May 15, 2025. It connects to an assault case from February 2023. The incident happened at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London.

Music producer Abe Diaw claims Brown attacked him with a tequila bottle. He alleges that Brown continued to beat him while he was on the ground. Diaw reportedly ended up hospitalized and needed crutches.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed they arrested a man matching Brown’s description. He was arrested “on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.”

This arrest comes just before Brown's UK tour dates. Questions arise about the future of his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour, starting June 15.

In addition to the arrest, Diaw has filed a $16 million lawsuit in the UK. He cites physical and emotional trauma from the incident.

Brown's camp has not yet released a statement regarding the arrest. This is not his first legal trouble; he has a felony conviction for assaulting Rihanna in 2009 and other disputes over the years.
