A 17-member committee has assessed challenges facing Kumawood. They also recommended strategies for its revival. The committee submitted its final report to Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.
Bishop Ofori Edu chaired the committee. It was inaugurated on March 4, 2025. The committee completed its work in two months and presented the report on May 13, 2025.
Dr. Amoakohene praised the committee for their dedication and speed. He emphasized President John Dramani Mahama's commitment to revitalizing Ghana’s film industry. Kumawood is a key part of local entertainment.
“The President is deeply committed to the creative arts sector,” said the Minister. “Kumawood remains central to that vision.”
Mr. Emmanuel Opoku Anane, known as "Awukye," spoke to the media. He thanked the Minister for prioritizing Kumawood's revival. He believes government support and recommendations will rejuvenate the industry.
He added that the report will serve as a blueprint for policy efforts. It aims to restore Kumawood to its former glory and stimulate economic growth in the region.
