Nigerian Afrobeats singer Davido revealed that his song, ‘Dami Duro,’ was the ringtone of former President Goodluck Jonathan. He learned this from a source close to the President.

In a recent interview with Power FM in the U.S., Davido discussed his early career challenges. His father, Deji Adeleke, initially did not support his decision to become a musician.

Davido explained that his father later changed his mind after ‘Dami Duro’ gained popularity. “My dad accepted my decision to do music after he heard my second single,” he said.

He recalled how before the song's success, his father used police and army to stop his shows. “When ‘Dami Duro’ became a huge success… I think it was the President’s ringtone,” he added.

After this breakthrough, people advised his father to let him pursue music. Davido also mentioned fulfilling his father's wish for him to continue his education.

Now, he and his father are best friends. This is quite different from their past relationship when Davido felt afraid of him.
