Davido would perform 'once a month for the people' were he a president

Afrobeats superstar Davido has expressed his strong commitment to music. He said that even as a president, he would still perform monthly shows for fans.

Davido spoke about this on the Bootleg Kev podcast. He recalled a time when he thought about retiring at 35. However, he now feels energized and inspired by the success of African music.

He noted that Afrobeats is thriving like never before. Davido has been making music for 13 years. He believes it takes different people varying amounts of time to succeed.

Despite any thoughts of retirement, he enjoys music too much to quit. He joked that if he were president, he'd still do shows for the people.

When asked about politics, Davido clarified it was just an example. "Nah, it’s not in my foreseeable future," he laughed.

He did mention it would be exciting to perform at his own presidential inauguration with an official band.

Davido also shared that he is in touch with artists for future collaborations. He specifically mentioned Rihanna, Drake, and Billie Eilish as dream partners.

Additionally, he announced a new video with Victoria Monét after meeting her at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
