Easter: Obomeng chiefs issue warning on indecent dressing

The annual Easter festivities in Kwahu Obomeng are starting. Traditional leaders are concerned about indecent dressing among some visitors.

Nana Siaw Ampadu, the Tufohene of Kwahu Obomeng, has issued a warning. He noted that some women wear revealing clothing, like short skirts and underwear as outer garments. He called this attire inappropriate for public celebrations.

Nana Ampadu urged attendees to dress modestly. He emphasized that this aligns with the community’s cultural values. “We welcome everyone to celebrate Easter, but we expect respect for our customs,” he said.

He added that this is a family-oriented celebration where decorum must be maintained. The Queen Mother of Kwahu Obomeng, Nana Yaa Kwei II, supported his message. She also asked visitors to be mindful of their clothing choices.

She stressed the importance of maintaining traditional values during major events like Easter. The chiefs' appeal comes as thousands gather in Kwahu for this vibrant holiday celebration.
