Eid-ul-Fitr: If you ride or drive carelessly; you'll be arrested - Mahama warns Muslim youth

President John Dramani Mahama has warned Muslim youth about reckless driving. This warning comes during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

He spoke at an event organized by the National Chief Imam. The event took place at Black Star Square in Accra. He highlighted that reckless behavior can lead to unnecessary loss of lives.

Mahama noted that Eid-ul-Fitr is a time for unity and joy. However, it should not be marred by careless actions that endanger lives.

"Ramadan is a period of togetherness, not recklessness," he said. He urged young people to celebrate responsibly and avoid risks.

To address this issue, President Mahama directed the police to be vigilant. They are to take action against offenders during the celebrations.

He mentioned past incidents where reckless riding led to needless deaths. "I urge our brothers who engage in this to stop," he cautioned.

He reaffirmed his stance, stating that police will arrest those who break the law.

The President’s warning serves as a reminder for all celebrants. Safety should be a priority while marking the end of Ramadan.
