Kojo Preko Dankwa, President of the Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP), has praised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its groundbreaking creative arts campaign leading up to the December 7, 2024, elections.
According to Dankwa, the NDC’s Creatives Campaign was the most effective and far-reaching in Ghana’s political history.
Unlike past campaigns, this initiative mobilized creatives across all 16 regions, encouraging them to openly support the party.
Associations like MUSIGA, GHAMRO, and the Ghana Actors Guild were engaged, while smaller groups such as Big 5 Stars of Kumawood for NDC were empowered to rally votes independently.
The NDC also organized stakeholder engagements with John Dramani Mahama to address creative economy policies, fostering inclusivity and unity within the industry.
The campaign employed strategies like communication skills training for creatives to deliver messages in local dialects and social media campaigns to ensure nationwide reach.
Creatives toured 12 regions, conducting retail campaigns, community engagements, and mini-rallies.
Key figures such as Rex Omar, KOD, Baba Sadiq, and others led communication efforts, simplifying the NDC’s creative policies for public understanding through media appearances and infographics.
A standout event, Creative Connect at KNUST, brought over 2,000 industry players together to solidify the NDC’s creative arts manifesto.
On Election Day, the team monitored key constituencies to support the NDC’s efforts.
Dankwa commended Rex Omar and his team, emphasizing that their work highlighted the critical role creatives play in politics and national discourse.
