The Acting Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has shared plans to remove the electronic levy and betting tax. This will happen as soon as the President approves it.
Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the GRA Commissioner, stated they will follow the law. The GRA is ready to eliminate these taxes as passed by Parliament.
He spoke to Joybusiness after introducing Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan. Annan is the new Commissioner of Customs at Tema sector Command.
"We're implementing this change," Sarpong said. "Once the law passes, we will remove these taxes for Ghanaians."
He added that both the e-levy and betting tax have been abolished. These changes were made alongside other taxes presented by the Minister in Parliament.
Sarpong emphasized that they want Ghanaians to enjoy their earnings without these burdensome taxes.
At a ceremony welcoming Brigadier General Annan, outgoing Commissioner Ziblim Ayorongo urged support for him. He emphasized that teamwork is essential for success.
Brigadier General Annan promised to continue good policies from his predecessor. His goal is to meet revenue targets effectively.
