GTDC launches fleet pool management services to transform Ghana’s tourism sector

The Ghana Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has launched its Fleet Pool Management Services (FPMS). This initiative aims to improve transportation in the tourism sector. It also seeks to enhance the visitor experience in Ghana.

The launch event took place in Accra. Many stakeholders, industry players, and media representatives attended.

Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, gave the keynote address. She highlighted the importance of FPMS for Ghana’s tourism agenda. Miss Gomashie called it a critical step toward modernizing tourism with efficient transport.

She praised GTDC for overcoming challenges to make this project happen. “This initiative reflects President John Dramani Mahama's vision,” she stated. It aims to grow tourism as an economic driver and improve tourist mobility across attractions.

The FPMS allows private vehicle owners and car rental services to partner with GTDC. This model helps GTDC provide transport services without owning vehicles. Private companies can access business opportunities through GTDC’s marketing channels.

GTDC CEO Prof Kobbie Mensah explained that FPMS is mutually beneficial for all parties involved. “We have registered 12 private companies so far,” he said, expressing confidence that this number will grow significantly.

The FPMS will offer tourists safe and reliable transportation options. It aligns with GTDC’s strategy to reposition Ghana’s tourism sector through partnerships and technology. The initiative is expected to boost private sector growth and create jobs.

Stakeholders believe FPMS will enhance Ghana's appeal as a top tourism destination in West Africa.
