Maame Efua Houadjeto is the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
The GTA has opened a call for event proposals. This is for the 2025 edition of December in GH. It is a month-long celebration of culture, heritage, entertainment, and reconnection.
December in GH aligns with the Black Star Experience. This initiative positions Ghana as a top destination for culture and entertainment. The celebration occurs during the festive holiday season.
It features curated events across music, fashion, art, culture, and nightlife. Thousands of visitors from around the world attend each year. The season attracts both Ghanaians returning home and those reconnecting with their roots.
Maame Efua Houadjeto stated that December in GH is more than just a celebration. It showcases Ghana’s vibrant spirit to the world. She emphasized that they are preparing for their biggest December season yet.
The GTA invites event organizers, promoters, and cultural curators to submit proposals. Events should be scheduled between December 1, 2025, and January 3, 2026. The goal is to create a diverse calendar of activities across the country.
The deadline for submissions is June 16, 2025. A selection committee will review all proposals submitted. They aim to ensure high-quality events that reflect Ghana’s creativity and hospitality.
Selected events will be featured on the official December in GH 2025 calendar. Annabelle McKenzie expressed excitement about collaborating with innovative event organizers.
This campaign aims to boost tourism and strengthen cultural industries in Ghana. It also reinforces Ghana’s reputation as Africa's gateway.
